Pakistan Studies/The undergraduate education program in Computer Science and Technology, jointly organized by Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences and the University of the Punjab, Pakistan, is the first China-Pakistan undergraduate-level Sino-foreign cooperative education program. It has been included in the 2026 enrollment plan.
To ensure the quality of talent cultivation, the two universities held a seminar on computer science program development and talent cultivation on June 19. Participants included Zhou Yushu and Muhammad Ali, presidents of the two universities; Hao Min and Ahmed Islam, directors of the academic affairs offices; and Shi Jingyu, Shahzad Shawar, and Muhammad Shahid Farid, directors of the computer science departments. The two sides held in-depth discussions on computer science program development, curriculum design, faculty allocation, and academic research.

At the meeting, the two universities exchanged views on specific matters such as curriculum alignment for the computer science program, teaching quality assurance, and the cultivation of students’ cross-cultural competence. The University of the Punjab, Pakistan, stated that it would send outstanding teachers to teach at Honder, so that Honder students could enjoy dual Chinese and Pakistani faculty, dual curricula, and international teaching resources without going abroad.
Both sides agreed that the curriculum design integrates the strengths of China and Pakistan, introduces distinctive computer science modules from the Pakistani side, and also meets the core requirements of China’s new engineering education, thus achieving an organic integration of teaching content. Discipline development will rely on the research strengths of both universities, with early planning in frontier fields such as artificial intelligence and big data, providing solid support for the sustainable development of the program. Talent cultivation will highlight an international orientation, focus on cross-cultural competence and practical skills, and strive to produce computer science professionals with global competitiveness.
Both sides also stated that they would give full play to their respective disciplinary advantages, refine all preparatory work, solidly advance the high-level operation of the program, and jointly cultivate high-quality computer science talents with an international perspective and solid skills.

Before the seminar, Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Ali and his delegation visited the Industry-Education Integration Practical Training Center of the Department of Computer Science. In the UAV aerial surveying training area, teachers from the Department of Computer Science demonstrated an automated aerial survey system capable of autonomous takeoff, route planning, and hazard identification. With professional photogrammetric equipment, it completed topographic mapping of the campus, and the related results have achieved excellent performance in domestic and international competitions. Afterwards, Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Ali and his delegation also observed cutting-edge practical teaching equipment such as an intelligent robot dog, and highly praised the college’s application-oriented educational model, which closely integrates theoretical teaching with industrial frontiers.

It is reported that at the end of 2025, the Ministry of Education officially approved the undergraduate education program in Computer Science and Technology jointly organized by Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences and the University of the Punjab, Pakistan. The program has a four-year duration and is included in the national regular higher education enrollment plan. It will begin enrollment in 2026 and adopt a dual-degree training model. Students who complete the program and meet the graduation and degree conferral requirements of both sides will receive an undergraduate graduation certificate and a bachelor’s degree certificate issued by Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences, as well as a bachelor’s degree certificate awarded by the University of the Punjab, Pakistan. Dual-degree recognition will broaden pathways for students’ further study, transnational employment, and career development, helping them grow into high-quality interdisciplinary talents in the field of computer science and technology.
The University of the Punjab, Pakistan, was founded in 1882. It is the oldest and largest national comprehensive research university in Pakistan. Its computer science discipline was established in 1994. In the 2025 QS Rankings, it ranked 401–450 globally and among the top three in Pakistan.
