On October 23, 2021, the 2021 China-Pakistan Cooperation International Conference was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.
The conference was hosted by Sichuan University and jointly organized by the China Center for South Asian Studies of Sichuan University, the Pakistan Research Center of Sichuan University, and the School of International Studies of Sichuan University.
The event was co-organized by several institutions, including the Chengdu Federation of Industry and Commerce, the Huaxia Institute of Industrial Economics, the Chengdu Chamber of Commerce for Business Services, and the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan.
Focusing on the theme of China-Pakistan cooperation, the conference brought together scholars, government representatives, think tanks, and business leaders from China and Pakistan to discuss the achievements of bilateral relations over the past seven decades and explore future opportunities for cooperation.
More than 150 participants from universities, research institutions, government organizations, and enterprises attended the conference both online and offline.
Participants gathered at Chengdu Xiangyu Hotel to exchange views on two major themes:
The discussions focused on strengthening China-Pakistan relations, promoting high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and building a stronger foundation for the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The opening ceremony was held at 11:00 a.m. and was chaired by Professor Song Zhihui, Vice Dean of the School of International Studies of Sichuan University, Academic Committee Member of the China Center for South Asian Studies of Sichuan University, and Director of the Pakistan Research Center of Sichuan University.
Professor Yao Leye, Vice President of Sichuan University and Director of the China Center for South Asian Studies, delivered a welcome address.
The conference also received important support from diplomatic representatives.
H.E. Moin ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, and Nong Rong, Ambassador of China to Pakistan, delivered video speeches to the conference.
Professor Li Xiguang, Director of the Pakistan Culture Communication Research Center at Tsinghua University, delivered a keynote speech focusing on China-Pakistan cultural communication and mutual understanding.
The participation of diplomats, scholars, and industry representatives demonstrated the broad cooperation foundation between China and Pakistan in diplomacy, education, research, and economic development.
The first parallel forum focused on strategic cooperation and cultural exchange, providing a platform for experts from both countries to review the development of China-Pakistan relations and discuss future cooperation opportunities.
The forum was moderated by Professor Tang Mengsheng, Director of the Pakistan Research Center at Peking University.

The forum was chaired by Li Hongwu, President of the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan.
