The Research Office and the Pakistan Research Center of Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences successfully organized an academic lecture entitled “Belt and Road Initiative and Low-Carbon Development” as part of the University's 2021 Academic Salon Series.
The lecture was held on May 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall on the Fifth Floor of the University Library, bringing together faculty members, researchers, and students interested in sustainable development, international cooperation, and Belt and Road studies.
The event aimed to deepen academic understanding of green development under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), promote interdisciplinary research, and encourage discussions on sustainable energy cooperation between China and partner countries, particularly Pakistan.
The Belt and Road Initiative has become one of the world's most significant international cooperation platforms, connecting countries through infrastructure, trade, investment, education, scientific research, and cultural exchange.
In recent years, green and sustainable development has become an increasingly important component of BRI cooperation. Climate change mitigation, clean energy development, carbon reduction, ecological protection, and sustainable infrastructure have emerged as key priorities in international collaboration.
Against this background, the lecture explored how regional cooperation can contribute to achieving economic growth while supporting environmental sustainability and low-carbon transformation.
Special attention was given to the opportunities for China and Pakistan to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable development under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mengyao Han, a distinguished scholar in the fields of regional sustainable development, low-carbon transition, and Belt and Road energy cooperation.
Dr. Han serves as a Guest Expert of Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences and has worked closely with the University on the 2020 Open Research Fund Project of the Key Laboratory of Regional Sustainable Development Modeling, Chinese Academy of Sciences, entitled:
“Research on the Evolution of Energy Policies and Clean Energy Cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.”
Her participation reflects the University's ongoing commitment to promoting international academic cooperation and interdisciplinary research related to China-Pakistan relations and sustainable development.
Dr. Han is a doctoral researcher and academic supervisor affiliated with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on:
