Pakistan Studies/On the evening of March 22, 2019, the Embassy of Pakistan in China held a reception in Beijing to celebrate Pakistan National Day. Wang Zhigang, Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, attended the event and delivered a speech. Professor Tang Jun, Director of the Pakistan Research Center at Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences, was invited to attend the reception on behalf of the College.

The event brought together guests from government departments, educational institutions, cultural organizations and various sectors of society. It provided an important platform for participants to celebrate Pakistan’s national development, review the long-standing friendship between China and Pakistan, and further promote exchanges in education, culture and people-to-people communication.
Since September 2010, when Masood Khan, then Ambassador of Pakistan to China, visited Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences, the College has established a deep and lasting friendship with Pakistan. In 2011, the College launched the “Pakistan Cooperation and Exchange” program. By 2018, the College had sent 51 graduates to Pakistan to support Chinese language teaching and educational exchange, and had received more than 100 Pakistani students. These efforts have played a positive role in promoting China-Pakistan friendship and strengthening educational cooperation between the two countries.

During the reception, Professor Tang Jun, on behalf of the College, presented Ambassador Masood Khalid with a painting titled Galloping Horses. The artwork was created by Yang Zhigang, a teacher from the Department of Art and Design, with an inscription by President Zhou Yushu. Professor Tang also presented the Ambassador with the book From a Head, Through a Head, to a Head, published by the Pakistan Research Center at Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences. The preface of the book was written by Ambassador Masood Khalid himself, which gives the publication special significance for the College and the Center.
Ambassador Masood Khalid extended warm greetings to Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences. He expressed appreciation for the College’s participation in the reception and its long-term commitment to educational and cultural exchanges with Pakistan. He also conveyed his hope that the College would continue to expand its international development and achieve further progress in international cooperation.

In addition, Professor Tang Jun presented a traditional Chinese ink painting created by Li Xinglin, a teacher from the Department of Art and Design, to Mr. Gao Runsheng, Secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan in China. The gift was offered as a sincere expression of gratitude for his long-term support and contribution to promoting educational exchanges between Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences and Pakistan.
The participation of the Pakistan Research Center in this reception further strengthened the friendly ties between the College and the Embassy of Pakistan in China. It also demonstrated the College’s active efforts in promoting international exchange, cultural understanding and practical cooperation with Pakistani partners. Looking ahead, Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences will continue to use the Pakistan Research Center as an important platform to deepen cooperation in education, culture, research and youth exchange, and to make new contributions to the friendship between China and Pakistan.
