College Holds Folk Activities for "Dragon Heads-Raising Day

The second day of the second lunar month, widely known as "Longtaitou" (Dragon Heads-Raising Day), embodies the Chinese nation’s sincere wishes for favorable weather, ample rainfall, and a bumper harvest of all grains. To further inherit the fine traditional Chinese culture, foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, and enrich campus cultural life, Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences held a series of themed activities titled "Longtaitou · Shared Aspirations" on March 20.

Featured performances including stilt walking, yangko dance, dragon and lion dances, Andai dance, and waist drum shows were staged one after another. The campus was permeated with a joyful and peaceful festive atmosphere. Teachers and students of all ethnic groups gathered together to celebrate the traditional festival and discuss ethnic unity. College leaders, deans of all departments, principals of some functional departments, and students participated in the event.

At the event site, gongs and drums roared, and a warm atmosphere permeated everywhere. Various folk performances were staged in turn, perfectly integrating traditional charm with ethnic customs. To the cheerful rhythm, the Department of Humanities took the lead to present the elaborately choreographed "Dragon Dance for Unity—Ethnic Integration". The sonorous drumbeats intertwined with the vivid dance moves, and the dance vividly showed the beautiful picture of the integration and coexistence of various ethnic cultures, instantly igniting the warm atmosphere of the scene.

The performers of the Department of Humanities, with neat movements and sincere emotions, interpreted the profound connotation of ethnic unity through every dance step and every drumbeat. Their performance not only showed the unique charm of traditional folk culture, but also conveyed the common aspiration of teachers and students of all ethnic groups to work together and move forward hand in hand, winning warm applause and cheers from the audience from time to time. Following the Department of Humanities, the Department of Education took the stage with its theme program " Intangible Cultural Heritage—Leaping Horses for a brocade spring". The performance integrated the image of "leaping horse" with the display of intangible cultural heritage, and the elegant and graceful moves were combined with the rich connotation of traditional culture, showing the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage among teachers and students of the Department of Education. It also conveyed the good wishes for the beautiful spring and the prosperity of all ethnic cultures, adding a strong festive atmosphere to the event and winning continuous praise from the on-site teachers and students. With the power of youth, the Department of Humanities inherited the context of intangible cultural heritage, integrating traditional intangible cultural heritage elements with modern youthful demeanor. The dancers' movements were stretched and graceful, and the connotation was profound and lingering, allowing the teachers and students present to feel the charm of intangible cultural heritage through the vivid interpretation, realize the power of inheritance, and further cultivate cultural confidence. Following closely behind, the Department of Foreign Languages brought its program "Dragon Initiates a New Journey · Languages Connect the World". Chinese students and international students dressed in characteristic costumes, cooperating tacitly to perform traditional folk customs such as stilt walking and yangko dance. To the cheerful beats, all of them jointly interpreted the joy and vitality of Chinese folk customs, fully showing the profound friendship between Chinese and foreign students who understand each other, integrate with each other, and work hand in hand to inherit Chinese culture. The tacit cooperation between Chinese and foreign students not only showed the unique charm of traditional folk customs in a novel way, but also reflected the Department of Foreign Languages' concept of "connecting the world with languages and inheriting culture together". Every move and every smile of the performers reflected the mutual respect and sincere friendship between students from different countries, making the traditional festival full of international atmosphere. While inheriting Chinese traditional culture, it also promoted cultural exchanges and mutual learning, letting the voice of Chinese culture spread further and deepening the sense of identity and belonging of all teachers and students to the fine traditional Chinese culture.

After the wonderful performance of the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of Accounting and Finance brought the national style dance "Ode to the Spring of Luo". The students were dressed in classical costumes and danced gracefully to the melodious melody. Their stretched dance moves were gentle and vivid, interpreting the grace and elegance of classical dance incisively and vividly. Behind the dancers, the vivid lion heads shook gently and the dragon heads nodded slightly, with brisk steps and joyful expressions, which complemented the dancers' classical dance moves and added a touch of auspiciousness and elegance to the festival. The integration of classical dance, lion dance and dragon dance not only showed the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture, but also reflected the profound cultural heritage of the students of the Department of Accounting and Finance. Next, the Department of Engineering Management and the Department of Computer Science appeared together, presenting their joint performance Intelligent Management Gallops · Code Sings Praises to the Motherland. The waist drum formation delivered powerful and passionate drumbeats with a lively rhythm. The performers moved in perfect unison, their red silk ribbons fluttering with every beat, looking high-spirited and full of energy. The dragon dance team cooperated seamlessly, making the dragon body leap, spiral, nod and sway its tail. Their agile and vigorous gestures fully displayed the auspicious aura of the dragon, echoing perfectly with the theme of Longtaitou Festival on the second day of the second lunar month.

Joining hands as one, students from the two departments not only demonstrated the charm of traditional folk customs, but also highlighted the spirit of unity, cooperation and youthful striving of college students in the new era.

After the passionate joint performance, the Department of Economics and Management took the stage with its dynamic program "The Galloping Hailiu Horse". Centering on the integration of tradition and modernity, the performance perfectly combined a sense of technology with ethnic style. The melodious grassland melody was matched with vivid and flexible dance moves, which not only showed the profound heritage of grassland ethnic culture, but also integrated the fashionable elements of modern technology. The magnificent interpretation made the teachers and students present indulge in the vast grassland feelings and feel the unique charm of the collision between tradition and modernity. The performers, dressed in costumes integrating grassland ethnic characteristics and modern design, moved with the melody, sometimes as gentle as the grassland breeze, sometimes as vigorous as a galloping steed, vividly interpreting the spirit of the "galloping Hailiu Horse". The stage was decorated with technological lighting effects, which complemented the dance moves and the grassland melody, creating a immersive audio-visual experience. The Department of Art and Design presented Dragon Raising Head · Dance Youth. Dressed in bright and colorful costumes, the students danced to the cheerful and passionate melody. Their dance moves were agile and graceful, with brisk and powerful steps, integrating the vitality of youth and the joy of the festival into every movement. Taking dance as the medium, they sent the most sincere festival blessings to all teachers and students, pushing the atmosphere of the scene to another climax.

Ulan Muqir Brings Warmth to Hongde

As night fell, the campus remained warm and cozy. A special performance by the Ulan Muqir Troupe directly under the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was warmly staged in the lecture hall of the Qiguang Building of the college, presenting a wonderful cultural feast to all teachers and students present.

The powerful and magnificent song and dance Ode of Praise kicked off the performance. Instrumental pieces featuring guzheng, dulcimer, violin and other instruments were melodious and graceful. Male solos, female solos, trios and other songs were deeply touching, while several group dances were vivid in moves and lively in rhythm.

From classic melodies to contemporary hits, from ethnic-style pieces to patriotic-themed song and dance, the programs were staged one after another with extraordinary splendor.

In the end, the performance concluded successfully to the stirring melody of Building the Chinese Dream Together with One Heart. The whole show not only demonstrated the superb artistic skills of the Ulan Muqir performers, but also conveyed the profound feelings of ethnic unity and solidarity between the nation and the country. Through this audio-visual enjoyment, teachers and students further fostered their patriotism and national pride.

Supporting the Yellow River Ice-Thawing Folk Culture Week

On the same day, March 20, 2026 Hohhot Yellow River Ice-Thawing Folk Culture Week, themed Dragon and Horse Gallop, River Opens with Blessings, grandly kicked off in the main venue of Tuoketuo County. Students from the Yunzhong Campus of Hongde actively participated and contributed their youthful energy.

At the event site, students from Yunzhong Campus performed in Ode to the Opening River and served as backing vocalists for The Yellow River Cantata, demonstrating the artistic accomplishment and cultural responsibility of Hongde students.

All volunteers at the event were from Yunzhong Campus of Hongde.

With full enthusiasm and a rigorous attitude, they carried out volunteer services, maintaining orderly on-site arrangements and providing thoughtful assistance.

Through their practical actions, they practiced the spirit of volunteerism, demonstrated the responsibility and demeanor of Hongde students, and let youthful vitality shine in the inheritance of Yellow River culture and the development of folk activities.

A lively Second Day of the Second Lunar Month,a joyful Longtaitou Festival.

This folk activity took traditional festivals as a bond, deeply integrating fine traditional Chinese culture with fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. It not only allowed teachers and students to experience the fun of traditional folk customs such as stilt walking, yangko dance, dragon dance and lion dance up close, and feel the charm of intangible cultural heritage like Andai Dance, but also built a platform for exchanges and interactions among teachers and students of all ethnic groups.

It further strengthened the friendship between teachers and students of all ethnic groups, and fostered patriotism and cultural confidence.

During the event, students of all ethnic groups joined together in joy and enjoyed folk performances, vividly interpreting the profound meaning of "the Chinese nation is one big family". The concept of fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation has taken root in the heart of every teacher and student.
