Pakistan Studies/On September 14, the Embassy of Pakistan in China, the Pakistan Cultural and Exchange Center, and the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University jointly held the launch ceremony for the new book The Indus and the Yangtze: A Journey of Two Rivers with Shared Origins in Beijing. Wang Ni, a researcher at the Pakistan Research Center of Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences, was invited to attend the event.

It is understood that The Indus and the Yangtze: A Journey of Two Rivers with Shared Origins was co-edited by Professor Li Xiguang, former Executive Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University, and Professor Zahid Anwar, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peshawar. The book is presented in English, Urdu, and Chinese editions, and systematically elaborates on the historical connections between the civilizations of the Indus River basin and the Yangtze River basin.
In his speech, His Excellency Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, stated that China-Pakistan relations have grown stronger over time, and that academic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges are of great significance to deepening the friendship between the two countries. He also called for further strengthening collaboration in areas such as university cooperation, faculty-student exchanges, and language learning. During the event, the “Oral History of Karakoram Highway Builders” project, research on ancient routes in the Yarkant River Valley, and related documentary works were also displayed on site.
“Our college’s Pakistan Research Center was established in 2014 and has long been committed to research in areas such as China-Pakistan educational cooperation and exchanges, Pakistan country studies, and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Being invited to attend this event is another concrete practice of the center’s continued deepening of external academic exchanges, and it will help further expand the college’s academic network and cooperation space in the field of China-Pakistan people-to-people and cultural exchanges,” said Wang Ni, a researcher at the Pakistan Research Center of Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences.
