Pakistan Studies/On September 8, Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, and his wife held a farewell reception at the Embassy of Pakistan in China in Beijing. Zhou Yushu, President of Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences, was invited to attend, accompanied by Shi Lizhen, Director of the Foreign Languages Department, and Tang Jun, Director of the Pakistan Research Center.

The event was warm and lively. Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China; former Pakistani Ambassadors to China Masood Khalid, Naghmana Alamgir Hashmi, and Moin-ul-Haque; Martin Mpana, Ambassador of Cameroon to China; Sha Zukang, former Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva; and Lu Shulin, former Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, gathered together with other senior Chinese and foreign diplomats.


During the conversation, President Zhou Yushu introduced to the ambassadors the achievements of Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences in exchanges and cooperation with Pakistani universities and research institutions in education, scientific research, and culture in recent years. The ambassadors praised the college’s active exploration in China-Pakistan cooperation and exchanges, and highly evaluated President Zhou Yushu’s research results on tracing the origin of the Indus Valley script, holding that the research has built a bridge for dialogue between ancient Chinese and Pakistani civilizations, promoted China-Pakistan academic and cultural exchanges, and advanced mutual learning between the two civilizations.


President Zhou Yushu stated that China and Pakistan are iron brothers, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges are an important bridge for enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples. Since the college established friendly relations with the Embassy of Pakistan in China in 2010, the two sides have maintained close exchanges and achieved fruitful results. So far, five ambassadors have given the college great attention and strong support. In the future, the college will continue to deepen cooperation with Pakistani universities and research institutions, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding between the peoples, and contribute Honder’s strength to China-Pakistan friendship in the new era.
