Seven Ambassadors, Including the Pakistani Ambassador to China, Meet with President Zhou Yushu and His Delegation

On September 8, H.E. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, and his wife hosted a farewell

reception at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing. Professor Zhou Yushu, President of Inner Mongolia Honder

College of Arts and Sciences, was invited to attend. He was accompanied by Professor Shi Lizhen, Dean of the

Foreign Languages Department, and Professor Tang Jun, Director of the Pakistan Research Center.

The reception was held in a warm and lively atmosphere. H.E. Khalil Hashmi; former Pakistani

ambassadors to China Masood Khalid, Naghmana Alamgir Hashmi, and Moin ul Haque; Martin Mbana,

Ambassador of Cameroon to China; Sha Zukang, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of

China to the United Nations Office at Geneva; and Lu Shulin, former Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, as well

as other distinguished Chinese and foreign diplomats, gathered at the event.

During the reception, President Zhou Yushu introduced the ambassadors to the achievements of Honder

College  in recent years in educational, academic, research, and cultural exchanges and cooperation with

Pakistani universities and research institutions. The ambassadors expressed their appreciation for Honder

College’s active efforts in promoting China–Pakistan cooperation and exchanges. They also highly praised

President Zhou’s research on the origins and evolution of writing in the Indus River Valley, recognizing that

his research has built a bridge for dialogue between the ancient civilizations of China and Pakistan,

strengthened academic and cultural exchanges between the two countries, and promoted mutual learning

between their civilizations.

President Zhou Yushu stated that China and Pakistan are ironclad brothers, and that people-to-people

exchanges serve as an important bridge for strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the

two peoples. Since Honder College established friendly relations with the Embassy of Pakistan in China in

2010, the two sides have maintained close exchanges and achieved fruitful results. To date, five Pakistani

ambassadors have shown great interest in and provided strong support to the College. Looking ahead, Honder

College will continue to deepen cooperation with Pakistani universities and research institutions, promote

people-to-people exchanges, strengthen mutual understanding between the two peoples, and contribute

Honder’s strength to China–Pakistan friendship in the new era.
