A Student Reflection on Welcoming the Pakistani Embassy Education Counselor to Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences

A Valuable Experience in Cross-Cultural Communication and International Exchange

International exchanges between universities not only promote academic cooperation but also provide students with valuable opportunities to improve their communication skills, broaden their global perspectives, and develop confidence in intercultural interactions.

Meeting with the Pakistani Embassy Education Counselor

On September 29, 2015, Mr. Navid Hassan Khan, Education Counselor of the Embassy of Pakistan in China, visited Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences to attend the college’s opening ceremony and conduct an institutional visit.

Before the visit, students were informed by their interpreter teacher, Mr. Richer, that the college needed student representatives to assist with welcoming and introducing the visiting international guest.

The student volunteered for the reception task and had the opportunity to accompany Mr. Navid Hassan Khan during his visit to important campus facilities, including the Masood Hall and the College History Exhibition Hall, where she introduced the college’s history, educational environment, and cultural development.


Careful Preparation Before the Visit

Before the reception, the student made detailed preparations to ensure the visit would proceed smoothly.

Since the Masood Hall and College History Exhibition Hall were not normally open to visitors, she contacted the library staff to gain access and carefully studied the exhibition areas. She took nearly 100 photographs of the facilities and prepared detailed English explanations for each section.

During the preparation process, she reviewed relevant vocabulary, organized the introduction materials, and tried to anticipate possible questions from the Pakistani guest.

Although she felt nervous before the event, the preparation process helped her develop a stronger sense of responsibility and confidence in handling international communication.
