China and Pakistan Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership

On November 29, 2023, Nong Rong, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, met with Khalil Hashmi, the newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan to China, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on China-Pakistan relations, bilateral cooperation, and the implementation of important agreements reached by the leaders of both countries.

Continued Development of China-Pakistan Relations

During the meeting, Assistant Minister Nong Rong welcomed Ambassador Hashmi to China and congratulated him on assuming his new position. He noted that the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership has maintained strong momentum and continued to develop steadily despite changes in the international and regional environment.

Nong Rong emphasized that China and Pakistan are close partners with a long-standing friendship based on mutual trust, mutual support, and shared development goals. Over the years, the two countries have maintained close coordination in political, economic, security, cultural, and international affairs.

He highlighted that Pakistani Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s visit to China in October 2023, including his participation in the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, was a successful milestone that further strengthened bilateral cooperation and promoted new opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Nong Rong stated that China is willing to work closely with Pakistan to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and accelerate the building of a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
