Academic Exchange on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor Promotes New Opportunities for China–Pakistan Cooperation

From December 9 to 11, 2015, Professor Tang Jun, Director of the Department of Foreign Languages and Director of the Pakistan Research Center at Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences, was invited to participate in the International Conference on China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) held at Government College University Lahore (GCU Lahore), Pakistan.

During the conference, Professor Tang Jun delivered a keynote presentation entitled:

“A Blueprint of 2,300 Acres of Land — An Analysis of the First Economic Zone in Gwadar, Pakistan.”

The presentation focused on the development planning, strategic significance, and future prospects of economic zones under the framework of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor. It analyzed the role of Gwadar Port and related industrial development projects in promoting regional connectivity, economic growth, and cooperation between China and Pakistan.

International Conference Brings Together Global Scholars and Research Institutions

The conference was jointly organized by Government College University Lahore and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). More than 50 internationally recognized universities, research institutions, and academic organizations from China, Pakistan, the United States, Europe, and other regions participated in the event.

Scholars and experts conducted comprehensive discussions surrounding the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, including:

  • Strategic significance of CPEC;
  • Economic and industrial development opportunities;
  • Regional connectivity and infrastructure cooperation;
  • Political and social impacts of large-scale development projects;
  • Future directions of China–Pakistan relations;
  • Opportunities for academic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The conference provided an important international academic platform for scholars to exchange research findings and explore practical approaches to promoting sustainable development and deeper cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.


Recognition of Honder College’s Contribution to China–Pakistan Educational Cooperation

During the conference, the organizers highly appreciated the achievements of Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences in promoting educational exchanges between China and Pakistan.

The conference participants recognized the important role played by the Pakistan Research Center in strengthening academic cooperation, conducting Pakistan-related studies, and facilitating mutual understanding between Chinese and Pakistani universities.

The Secretary-General of the Punjab Higher Education Commission of Pakistan expressed particular interest in the educational cooperation between Pakistan and Honder College. He inquired about the academic life and learning experiences of the eight Pakistani students studying at Honder College and spoke highly of the college’s efforts in supporting international students.

He also expressed willingness to further expand cooperation with Honder College by encouraging more Pakistani students to pursue academic opportunities in China.

Strengthening Academic Bridges Between China and Pakistan

The participation of the Pakistan Research Center in this international conference marked an important step in expanding academic cooperation between China and Pakistan.

Through participation in international forums, joint research projects, and educational exchanges, the Center continues to promote:

  • Research on Pakistan’s economic development and regional cooperation;
  • Studies related to the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor;
  • Academic exchanges between Chinese and Pakistani universities;
  • Mutual understanding between Chinese and Pakistani societies.

As an academic platform dedicated to Pakistan studies, the Pakistan Research Center at Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences remains committed to promoting interdisciplinary research and contributing intellectual support to the long-term development of China–Pakistan relations.
