Pakistan Studies/To help students gain a deeper understanding of the historical relations between China and Pakistan, an academic lecture titled A Review of the Historical Relations between China and Pakistan was held via Tencent Meeting at 2:30 p.m. on June 7, 2022. The lecture was delivered by Professor Tang Jun, Director of the Pakistan Research Center at Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Gulam Ali and Dr. Muhammad Umer Arshad from Pakistan were invited as special guests for the event.
China and Pakistan have enjoyed a long-standing and close relationship. Over the years, cooperation between the two countries has developed in many fields, including politics, economy, diplomacy, education, culture and regional connectivity. The friendship between China and Pakistan has become widely recognized by the peoples of both countries and continues to serve as an important foundation for bilateral cooperation.

During the lecture, Professor Tang first introduced the national background of Pakistan, including its history, society, culture and geographical features. He then guided the audience through the earliest exchanges between China and Pakistan, the historical background of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the major factors that have contributed to the steady development of bilateral relations.
Professor Tang explained that the relationship between China and Pakistan has been shaped by mutual respect, practical cooperation and people-to-people friendship. Through historical review and case analysis, he helped students better understand how the two countries gradually built trust and expanded cooperation in different periods.
In the final part of the lecture, Professor Tang introduced the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, including its background, development progress, significance and regional value. He pointed out that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has become an important platform for promoting infrastructure development, economic cooperation and connectivity between the two countries. It has also provided new opportunities for academic research, educational exchange and youth participation.

Through Professor Tang’s explanation, students gained a clearer understanding of the development of China-Pakistan relations and the importance of cultural and educational exchanges in strengthening mutual understanding. The lecture also encouraged students to view international relations from a historical and multicultural perspective.
The event reviewed the development process of China-Pakistan friendship and looked ahead to future cooperation between the two countries. It also provided teachers and students with an opportunity to learn more about cross-cultural communication, regional studies and the importance of friendly exchanges among nations.
The Pakistan Research Center at Inner Mongolia Honder College of Arts and Sciences will continue to organize academic lectures and cultural exchange activities related to Pakistan studies. Through these efforts, the Center aims to broaden students’ international vision, promote academic communication, and contribute to the continued development of educational and cultural cooperation between China and Pakistan.
